Wax Art

We are self isolating here in Washington State with the official lock down ordered by our governor starting today at 5:30pm. A few weeks ago we were playing soccer, loving kindergarten, gearing up for busy photography season & so happy that the sun was in our near future. Fast forward today…. We are locked in our house trying to take as many walks as the rain breaks will let us, homeschooling & desperate for new things to keep our little ones busy which in turn means we get to keep our sanity!!!

Before you get started you will need:

  • Peeled color crayons (New or used)

  • Pieces of white paper or card stock

  • Pieces of foil

  • Warm Griddle or skillet

  • Towel to put on the side of skillet/griddle to protect your arms

  • Tongs for grabbing pieces of foil/paper

(MAKE SURE THERE IS ALWAYS AN ADULT HELPING TO MAKE SURE NOBODY GETS BURNT)

Let’s get started!!!!

After you have all of your materials collected it’s time to warm up your griddle & let the magic begin!!!! Once your griddle is heated go ahead and place your foil into the pan so it can warm up, once it is warmed up it’s time to grab your crayons and start your masterpiece. It works best if you draw slow giving it time to melt otherwise you will not have enough wax.

Next up….

Once you are done adding wax it’s time to add the paper by gently laying it on top of the foil & taking your tongs to press it down until you entire image is transferred. Once your image is transferred over to your paper grab it with your tongs and slowly lift up. SURPRISE!!!! Enjoy your wax art & please share your masterpieces with us!
